Copper, size 7. Narrow band with rounded face. Originally gilt, this ring now is bright with texture from burial. Pure copper as was sometimes used by Vikings, who were advanced metallurgists. That use virtually unknown in other Medieval cultures where copper was uniformly alloyed with tin or zinc to produce bronze or brass with enhanced properties. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
