8th-9th century AD. Gilt bronze, over size 8 ½ with 2.1mm deeply rounded band flaring to the hatched shoulders. Bordered oval bezel with engraved runes in three ranks. Viking runes evolved from the Elder Futhark system. Regional variations evolved over time. The right cipher on this ring is a classically executed raido (ᚱ) in the Elder Futhark alphabet, which means journey or travel. The other two are evolutionary variants. Excellent wearable condition.
