Gilt bronze, size 7 ¾, formed as a serpent forming a circle with its tail in its mouth. This is Jormungandr, child of Loki and Angrboda, who was cast into the sea by Oden and grew so large as to circle the world (interesting that Vikings knew the world was round) biting its own tail. When it releases its tail, the Viking apocalypse, Ragnarok, occurs. Surface degraded from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
