For sergeant, Westward expansion period. Brass hilt with plumed helmet pommel. Plated spirally fluted white metal (zinc, tin?) grip. 27 1/8” double edged blade. Great age character. Type carried in Western outposts and forts through the Indian Wars and Reservation period.
