Peterson #38. Brass hilt stirrup form guard with broad langets. Leather covered grip made without wire wrap. 32 1/2” broad fullered curved blade. Excellent untouched example with smooth light gray patina to the blade. Original cross polish. Grip leather with slight wear from body contact. Type used through the War of 1812 and Civil War as well, both with substantial state militia involvement under a weaker central government. Good untouched character.
