Reverse with a bear maker’s mark. Brass hilt with three bar guard and wire-wrapped leather covered grip. Scabbard undented and retaining nearly all its plating. Brass mounts matching the hilt and with its original suspension mounts and remnants of the leather. Blade decorated over half its length with military and patriotic motifs, in fine preservation. Custer era example with great age appearance exuding Western/cowboy character and of exceptional length indicative of an officer of exceptional stature.
