He wears a headdress with seven human skulls and is surrounded by vignettes of deities. Lamaist Buddhists worship Makahala as a fierce protector. Oil on canvass, 13 ¾” x 18 ¾”. The surround and cover, probably renewed mid century when the Dali Lama and his followers fled Tibet after the Communist takeover, are 35 ½” x 24”.
