Ordered in November of 1812 by the US  Government surely as a result of war pressures with Britain. The 1813 model is a redesign of the Starr 1812 model cavalry sword, which itself was built vaguely to the specifications of the 1812 Rose cavalry saber. This example with P/HHP/N STARR markings, indicating inspection by Henry H. Perkin and thus a pre-1817 production date. The hilt, blade and scabbard all with chocolate patina and uniform light pitting.
