19th century. Straight cross guard with baluster swell to the knuckle bow middle. tip, and matching quillon terminals. Barrel shaped pommel. Deep cup incised with symmetrical cross each side. The beam tips as fleur-de-lis and quartered fleur-de-lis at the junction. 34 ½” triangular blade in red cloth seat. Well-made and functional. Possibly made for dueling which was still practiced at the time.
