Early 19th century. Mexico or Caribbean. 7 3/8” wedge section leaf-shaped blade with heel cleft thumb rest. Iron ferruled wood grip of Albacete type. Maroon leather scabbard with tooled borders. Wear and blemishes consistent with its age and use. Probably dating to the Mexican War of independence of the early 19th century. During that time, piracy was unchecked in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean where this knife may well have served.
