Iron, with one piece skull including rolled and roped edge brim and neck protection. The skull is of elegant form rising to a drawn out back swept peak and retaining liner rivets and gussets to the base. Hinged ear piece pierced for audibility. The right side of the brim is skillfully replaced in its working life and matching in detail. Some lamination above the brim and a few other places on the skull, typical for the period. Beautifully crafted with fine patina.
