ROMAN SIGNET OR MYSTICAL RING, 1ST-3RD CENTURY AD, SIZE 10 1/2

Gilt bronze, size 10 ½. 2.7mm flat face band flaring to the bordered bezel which is inscribed with four cabalistic ciphers. These ordinarily are cut with random marks to serve as a signet, representing the owner’s signature. This example had specifically crafted ciphers as found on the rings of sorcerers (seers), known in ancient Rome as augurs.  Surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certification of authenticity.
