Buff/pink terra cotta, 3 5/8” (3.70”) length of “Herodian” style dating 37BC-50AD, Judea. The form is identified by its circular body and flared spout with elegant side returns. Raised edge filler surrounded six radially arranged nubs. Flared spout, charred from use, under a votive splay of wheat with the seed heads delineated. Archaeological filed number to the side. Excellent, about as well preserved as these come. The specific type used in Judea in Christ’s lifetime.
