The original garment pin patented two millennia later as the "safety pin". This type is known as a knee fibula. Bronze, 1 5/8" length, of elegant form, probably for a woman's garment. The pin intact but frozen open exactly as it inadvertently was opened and lost 1800 years ago! Fine patina. With a certificate of authenticity.
