Hand-stitched homespun cloth, 5 5/8” length plus the plug. Bag form with a hand-carved spout and original wood plug secured on a cord. See Neumann p227, top, center for a very similar example lacking the stopper. These were used to carry large shot which was loaded with the ball (“buck and ball”) to increase the effectiveness of the load. A few original lead shot remaining. Its thin form allowed it to be tucked in the belt or pouch. That it is not a shot container for fowling (shotgunning), is demonstrated by its very limited capacity. It would barely provide four to five charges for a shotgun but enough shot for perhaps 20 bucks and ball loads. Wonderful untouched condition and complete.
