Fine large fighting proportions with 32 1/4” triangular section blade, undecorated as is typical for American examples. Silver hilt with double shell guards (one with a maker’s mark) adorned with gadrooning which was stylish at the time. See American Silver Mounted Swords 1700-1815, Peterson #14. Refurbished for battle with the knuckle bow removed to improve access in close quarter fighting as was often done by American officers but prohibited to English.
