9" d.e. blade with spatulate tip, tool finish and rudimentary narrow fuller. Heavy brass or bronze hilt with crest form pommel incised with lines to delineate the crescent. Thick tapered grip with attached brass bracket. The scabbard of laminated sheet brass pierced with crescents, crosses and other ciphers, similar to Old Slavic and perhaps copied from an ancient text or cabalistic. Well used and with wear and good patina. The isolation of Tuareg communities based on family units gave rise to some unique styles, confined to their foster groups only.
