Pre-contact. 32” length, of four palm wood members lashed with sennit at the joints. The central straight tapering shaft mounted with four spines full length, each composed of a row of shark teeth in graduated sizes lashed to flanking base bars with sennit. Each tooth with a hole laboriously drilled through which the lash passes. The outlying members mounted with pairs of spines, identically composed and secured. The mounting and binding in exceptional preservation for these. The teeth mostly broken as usually found. As the bindings are well preserved, it is evident that the teeth were broken in battle. This form very rarely encountered. Ex. Christie's London, purchased in the 1980s.
