Elegant iron hilt with shamshir form grip and delicate floral form quillon terminals. 30 ¾” slightly curved wedge section blade decorated in panels of calligraphy and portraits. Hilt excellent. Blade with light pitting and worn. Devastating loss in the Russo-Persian War of 1804-13 led to a nostalgic yearning for the old ways, fostering a return to early styles as demonstrated here.
