Brass hilt with pommel and quillon block decorated with cherubs. Thickened beaded edge double shell guards of early symmetrical form. Brass wire wrapped grip with brass turban form guards. 31 ½” triangular blade of early form with concave faces to the right and the back flat with a narrow fuller near full length. Blade shows frosty glossy surface with old light pitting. Type which served in the War of Spanish Succession, the English version of which became known as the Marlborough sword.
