19th century. 12” tapered slightly curved blade chiseled in cabling and abstract shapes, alternately inlaid with brass. Faceted iron bolster with chiseled brass inlay. Matching chiseled brass inlay to the blade back. The balance of the grip sheathed in brass engraved in motifs matching the blade. The pommel modeled as an abstract animal head. Original wood scabbard well carved and in excellent preservation. Excellent throughout for the period with a little minor staining to the blade only. Charming form and superior example. See Armas Blancas en España, Rubio pl.21 for a similar example referenced due to the close cultural relationship of Morocco and Southern Spain.
