18th-19th century. Lantakas were produced in various sizes according to the need and capability of the vessels which they equipped. This example is 37 3/8" in length with a bore of approximately 1 1/4". It was capable of penetrating the hull or disabling the rigging of an attacking vessel. On modern display stand as the gun would have been mounted directly to the vessel it served.
