Cased (Riker mount) pair of deer leg bones from the Hiwassee River, Benton Tennessee (Polk County) and so marked. Also marked “from mound”. Each about 8 ½” long, desiccated from age but complete. C800-1600 AD. The Mississippian Mound Builders were among the Native Americans who succumbed to European diseases brought by De Soto and the Conquistadors.
