C.1300-1500 AD. 1 1/8” height, tear form with thick ridged top bar which was riveted to a suspension strap. Heavy gilt bronze with incised armorial heart on a sash motif, representing a noble or royal arms award. Bronze, cast in an opened mold clearly evidenced on the back. Hand engraved overall. Gilt overall with the border of the drop and the “sash” overlain in silver. Fine preservation for the period. A museum piece.
