MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN BODKIN AROWHEAD C.1100-1400 AD

Forged iron, 3 1/2” (3.53”) length with elongated pyramidal form point with base indents forming a foot for seating to the shaft. Tapered tang. Made specifically to penetrate chainmail of the period. Chain mail was designed to protect against broad head arrows and other weapons but was overcome by bodkin arrows which easily penetrated the mail and the leather outer jerkin protected it. Crisp condition with stable surface oxidation.
