JAPANESE SWORD GUARD, TSUBA, FOR THE LONG SWORD, KATANA

Edo period, 18^th century. Forged iron, 3” diameter with single riobitsu. Textured and chiseled in low relief with a leaf each side, the veins inlaid in brass and the inlays repeated on the field. Stable near black patina.
