19th century. Crescent form axe bit with circular socket and recurved square section back spike. Silver koftgari decoration shows wear particularly to the left side. The iron haft with mushroom terminal, pierced for a wrist thong to prevent loss in battle. The tip is forged to a leaf shape point with silver foliate decoration. The socket is secured with a cloth or leather liner. Glossy brown patina throughout. Rare form.
