450-50 BC, forged iron, 7 1/4” length along the curve with elegant form wedge section blade, down-curved with slightly dropped tip. Tapered tang for anchoring in a bone or wood grip. In this example, as rarely encountered, the tang passes through the entire length of the grip and is peened to a small gusset serving as the pommel. The blade of a thin section specifically designed for slashing and not a work knife. Stable excavated condition with a well-preserved profile.
