92 ½” length. Large proportions with elegant axe blade and backswept top fluke both decorated with groups of pierced circles. Integral cheek straps and supplemental straps to the top and bottom. Octagonal wood haft with a gothic cipher branded (?) below the straps. The base with the original iron shoe, secured with a modern screw due to wood shrinkage. The haft with shallow notches and the impression of a metal clamp, about a foot and a half above the base, evidently from a previous display. A fine example from the full plate armor period.
