17th century. 28 5/8" length. Cane shaft with inset wood nock. The nock and fletch area pigmented. Fletching lacking as always found. Fine iron head of tapered triangular section on conical socket. The head beautifully decorated in gold overlay (koftgari). The socket in panels of scrolls and each facet of the point with an Urdu or Hindi cipher on reeded ground. Used in the war of expansion under the 17th century Mogul Emperors, Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb.
