Good example with raised fleur-de-lis each side surrounded by wave border. Rolled comb with depressed border and iron plume holder. The interior with newer black paint over original orange arsenal paint. 11 ½” height. Excellent for the period. Helmets of this type were used by military and guard units in southern Germany and Austria including the Munich Town Guard. The elaborate decoration of this example is indicative of use by an officer. It was part of a 3/4 armor decorated with the theme throughout. Armors of this type are preserved at the Landesmuseum, Graz, Styria, Austria.
