Mid-18th century. Extraordinary example with dished oval guard, silver grip and olive form pommel. The inner guard set with "stones", perhaps small diamonds, around the edge and in floral clusters. Cross guard and quillon block decorated en suite. The grip with circular graduated clusters of the same stones, all lacking one side and three remaining on the other. Two replaced with large cut glass stones. Pommel similarly mounted with losses. Concave faced triangular blade broken to 20 1/4". The remains of a sword which we would value in the $6000-7000 range if complete. Restoration by a talented amateur is a distinct possibility, warranted by the exceptional rarity of this sword.
