Brass hilt with stirrup form guard embellished with scrolling foliage. Matching decore to the deep scalloped bottom pommel. Stag and dog motif to the shell guard. Studded leather-covered grip. 24 1/4” curved narrow fullered blade decorated with foliage flanking a splay of arms each side. The ricasso with a roped edge hatched panel on both sides, in the French taste. A sword carried for personal protection probably daily evidenced by the light wear to the hilt elements. The blade, originally sheathed, is in excellent preservation for the period.
