1854 pattern, dated 1874, Third Republic. 36 1/4” heavy wedge section deeply double fullered to produce a T back and medial ridged each face. The back inscribed Mr d Armes de Chatt Averil 1874 Dragon Md 1854 Chau 1882 indicating Dragoon issue and service. Foliate decorated brass three bar guard. Wire wrapped leather-covered spirally fluted grip. Excellent and complete with its leather blade seat. Hilt with good patina over a little wear and remnants of gold finish.
