Dr. Wall period, C.1770-83. 3” and 4 7/8” diameter. Blue on white decorated with a pastoral scene a fortified house and conical topped towers. That scene is recorded by one guide as unrecorded. The decoration is based on Chinese export pottery of the period but executed with much greater skill on Worcester porcelain. Each with the crescent maker’s mark underglaze. Slightest wear to the ring bases, otherwise fine condition. The very heart of Dr. Wall porcelain and the beginning of the English export industry.
