FINE ROMAN PROSTITUTE'S RING, C.100-300 AD, SIZE 6 ¾

Bronze, as found condition with lovely glossy green patina. Large wearable size 6 3/4. Rounded face band, 3.1mm width, widened at the bottom. Stepped and expanded edge bezel with the center of pyramid form with incised hatched or reeded motif, superficially imitating a gemstone and blatantly advertising the intentions of the wearer.  Roman prostitutes were, largely slaves. Prostitution was practiced openly with brothels sometimes sharing doors with libraries Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
