EUROPEAN COAT PISTOL, LATE 18TH CENTURY

Flintlock, converted to percussion in the first half of the 19th century. 14 5/8” length with walnut full stock and 9 ¼” octagonal/round barrel, .63 caliber. Lock plate with cursive maker’s name and stepped tail with flag splay (both worn). Elegant s scroll hammer. Brass furniture with engraved flag splay to the side plate (worn).  The brass trigger guard a modern replacement. Sound and tight with good patina. Dating to the period of the French Revolution and serving, converted, into the cartridge period.
