Napoleonic Wars period. Brass hilt, formerly gilt with stirrup form guard with side loop bar. Reeded bone grip. 32 7/8” broad fullered blade, d.e. from the mid point, the form which virtually defines the spadroon. The forte with gilt and blued decoration foliage, arms, wreath and band of cabalistic inscriptions each side. The left side crisp and bright with virtually all the gold intact. The right matching but for the blue which is worn but good in protected areas. Excellent large fighting example.
