This is a fine example of a British Infantry hanger for colonial service as was used extensively in the American Colonies. It has a 25” curved blade with a narrow back fuller, struck with the crowned GR cipher of George III. The hilt is brass with a fluted shell guard and fine hardwood grip. See Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, 23.S for a virtually identical example.
