ENGLISH CUIRASSIER’S ARMOR, SECOND QUARTER OF THE 17TH CENTURY

Composite, comprising breastplate and backplate, the latter with the maker’s mark of HR and an indistinguishable crowned mark. Close helmet with perforated visor and plume holder.  Articulated pauldrons and arms, rerebraces with turning knuckles, bracelet couters and mitten gauntlets. The tassets with the P monogram in rivets of Wilton House, home of the Earls of Pembroke, likely from the Sotheby’s sales of 1917-21.
