New Kingdom 1550-1070 BC. Bronze, 7 1/2” height with large reflective face on lotus bud bolster and tapered tang for the now perished wood handle. Finely made, the edge coined (hammer raised) to the back only. The back finely hammer finished and the face hand polished to a smooth bright finish. Fine uniform green patina throughout. Undoubtedly served a lady of wealth and position in applying her makeup which was essential in Egyptian culture. Rarely encountered outside museums.
