Napoleonic Wars period C.1790-95. 19 3/4" slightly curved wedge section blade shows forged construction with lamination line along the edge. Otherwise smooth with some scattered pitting speckles to the forte. Brass hilt with loop side guard and beaked pommel. The cross guard engraved No 50 to the under side. Wire wrapped sharkskin covered grip. Hilt excellent for the period. From a well known group produced under the pressure of war, a variation of which incorporates an A within the guard for Amsterdam.
