DAUNIAN WARE KANTHAROS 3RD CENTURY BC

A wine cup, 4 ½” height, 5 ¼” width of characteristic form. Buff body color with brown annular bands and a band of leaf shapes to the shoulder. Similar decoration beneath the lip. The polished surface intact throughout. The decoration faded on an area about 40% of the circumference. Otherwise undamaged. Duania occupied an area in northern Apulia (the heel of the “boot” and north on the Adriatic Sea).
