Used in the Revolution. Purchased in the 1970’s from Schindler’s Antiques, Charleston South Carolina who identified it as coming with other Revolutionary War accoutrements in the estate of descendants of the original owner. 8 ½” length, made from a gourd with the end pierced for suspension, See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, p.108 #2 & #3 for other examples. Great age character and undamaged.
