Gilt bronze. Just over 3/4" (0.75") height. Scalloped edge crescent enclosing another smaller. Perhaps representing an eclipse which was an act of the Gods. Made by the open face mold method. Vikings relied on astronomy to navigate and the heavenly bodies had supernatural significance. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored on a modern 18” gilt Sterling silver neck chain. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
