Fine 7 1/2" blade of eight full wave form and strong medially ridged section. The forte with a symmetrical serif tipped cross. Iron guard with baluster form quillons. Quillon terminals and pommel of matching double ball form with incised oval decoration. Quillons set above center on the block with a small drilled hole below each, purpose unknown. Polished ebony grip. Excellent for the period. Used in the initiation ceremonies which were reputed to involve drawing blood. A striking dagger regardless of its history.
