Gilt bronze, over 1 1/8” height, formed as the boteh, a form sacred in the East since the Zoroasterists and imported to England in the 18th century when the British East India Company reopened the Silk Road, bringing textiles using the symbol. The form was embraced, particularly in Paisley Scotland where textiles incorporating it were produced. This example is professionally refurbished with 24karat gold surface restored, on a gilt mounted polished leather neck cord for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
