VIKING WEDDING RING 9TH-10TH CENTURY AD, SIZE 8 1/2

Double rare. Made of copper with a central core to distribute the metal and heat. The core then laboriously removed by hand, but that removal never completed here and significant remnants of the core remain. Vikings were expert metallurgists. The use of pure copper is rare and suggests a supernatural significance as alloys were much more durable. Considerable remnants of gold surface.
