VIKING/SCANDINAVIAN HEART NECKLACE C.1100-1200

Large example dating to the transitional period when Vikings were converted to Christianity and subsequently fought in the Crusades. Over 1 ¼” (1.31”) height plus the suspension loop. Indented edge heart form superimposed with a symmetrical quatrefoil over a V.  A stylization of the original basic heart with trefoil which form is found in about half of Viking heart amulets.  Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
