VICIOUS MAHDIST, SUDANESE, SPEAR C.1885

Forged iron, 19 3/4” length with medially ridged barbed point above a repeated barbed segment. Open seam conical socket. Stabilized brown surface with old preservative. Typical as brought back by a British soldier from the 1885 Anglo-Sudanese (Mahdist) War. As soldiers were restricted to what would fit in their kit bags, the discarded the shafts and brought the heads home.
